Young Lawyer of the Year Nominations Open

The 2013 Young Lawyer of the Year Award will be presented at the 2013 Annual Meeting of The West Virginia State Bar at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, W.Va., on May 10, 2013.  To obtain information regarding the awards process click hereNominations are due April 15, 2013.

Citizen Soldier Nominations Open

The 2013 Citizen Soldier Award will be presented at the 2013 Annual Meeting of The West Virginia State Bar at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, W.Va., on May 10, 2013.  To obtain information regarding the awards process click here.

Nominations are due April 15, 2013.

Recording CLE Hours for Non-Approved Providers

At its meeting of January 11, 2013, The West Virginia State Bar Board of Governors approved a $20 fee for reporting CLE credit hours submitted for any program which has not received prior approval from the MCLE Commission.  The filing fee will become effective for all non-approved hours submitted on or after March 18.  Click here to view a copy of the form.  If you have questions, contact Hope Gresham atgreshamh@wvbar.org or 304-553-7238.

Judicial Benchbook – Now Available

The 2013 Judicial Benchbook for Child Abuse and Neglect Proceedings is now available for free download. The benchbook is a must-have resource for anyone practicing in child abuse/neglect cases, as it contains case law, statutes, rules, and more information related to this field. Voluntary Good Practices Guidance to Combat Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing

The ABA Task Force on Gatekeeper Regulation and the Profession has worked with other entities to develop voluntary good practices guidance for lawyers to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.  The Task Force has concerns about how mandatory gatekeeper provisions might affect confidential attorney-client relationships and other issues.  Below are two publications from the ABA Task Force:
