ATTORNEY CM/ECF TRAINING IN CLARKSBURG - The Federal District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia will conduct CM/ECF training for attorneys at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, and 10:00 a.m on February 10, 2010 in the Bankruptcy Court building in Clarksburg.  This no-cost training is intended for attorneys and their filing staff.   The course is 120 minutes and qualifies for 2.4 office management MCLE credits.  To enroll in the training, please contact Rita Sedosky at Rita_Sedosky@wvnd.uscourts.gov.  If necessary, we will offer another class at 2:00 in the afternoon of February 10.  If you have further questions, feel free to contact Rita Sedosky, above, or Bill Hinerman, Chief Deputy Clerk, at Bill_Hinerman@wvnd.uscourts.gov

 

 

STATE BAR ELECTIONS - Nominating Petitions for this year's elections have been mailed to State Bar members in Districts 1-5 for the Board of Governors and the Young Lawyers Section Executive Committee.  When signed by the requisite number of petitioners, Nominating Petitions must be filed, no later than February 10, 2010, with the Executive Director of The West Virginia State Bar, 2006 Kanawha Boulevard, East, Charleston, WV 25311-2204, via fax 304.558.2467 or email caseya@wvbar.org. Receipt in the office of the Executive Director by midnight February 10, 2010 constitutes filing.

 

 

NEW ADMITEES - Twenty lawyers were admitted to practice law in the State of West Virginia during a ceremony before the Supreme Court of Appeals on  January 13, 2010. REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENT -  The Supreme Court of Appeals has entered an order with a proposed amendment to Rule 8, Rules for Admission to the Practice of Law.  The proposed amendment increases the fee paid to The West Virginia State Bar for each individual applicant in each individual pro hac vice admission.  Public comment on the proposed amendment may be filed with the Office of the Clerk, West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, by January 25, 2010Click here to review the Order.
