OFFICE OF DISCIPLINARY COUNSEL - The Office of Disciplinary Counsel is pleased to announce its new website which may be accessed at www.wvodc.org. The website contains information about : (1) the disciplinary complaint process; (2) the function of the Lawyer Disciplinary Board; (3) Legal Ethics Opinions issued by the Lawyer Disciplinary Board; (4) recent disciplinary decisions issued by the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia; (5) the Rules of Professional Conduct; (6) the Rules of Lawyer Disciplinary Procedure; and (7) the Standards of Professional Conduct. 
 

REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENT -  The Supreme Court of Appeals has entered an order with a proposed amendment to Rule 8, Rules for Admission to the Practice of Law.  The proposed amendment increases the fee paid to The West Virginia State Bar for each individual applicant in each individual pro hac vice admission.  Public comment on the proposed amendment may be filed with the Office of the Clerk, West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, by January 25, 2010.  Click here to review the Order.

PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS - The deadlines for two prestigious awards that will be presented at the State Bar's Annual Meeting in May at The Greenbrier are approaching. The Young Lawyers Section will award its Young Lawyer of the Year Award and the State Bar will present the James Madison Cutts, Jr. Citizen Solider Award. Nominations for the Cutts Award must be received by March 2, 2010. Nominations for the Young Lawyer of the Year Award must be received by March 15, 2010.
